Privacy Policy
This policy describes how Chronara collects, uses, and looks after personal information when you visit our website or communicate with us about a watch.
Last updated: 1 May 2025 · Effective: 1 May 2025
Who we are
Chronara is a horological workshop located at 142 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. We operate under Thai law and process personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) (PDPA).
For the purposes of this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Chronara. "You" refers to any person who uses our website or contacts us about a watch.
Data we collect
Information you give us directly
When you complete a contact form, send us an email, or telephone our workshop, we may collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your telephone number
- The subject of your enquiry and any message you write
- Details about a watch you bring to the bench (make, model, serial number, condition notes)
Information collected automatically
Our website may record standard server log data when you visit, including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used solely for the operation and security of the site and is not linked to any identifiable individual.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies. Please read our Cookie Policy for a full account of what we place, why, and how long they persist.
How we use it
We use personal information for the following purposes:
- Responding to enquiries about our services
- Preparing estimates and service assessments for watches brought to the bench
- Communicating the progress and completion of work
- Keeping a record of work performed on a watch for your service history
- Meeting our legal obligations under Thai law
- Operating and maintaining our website
We do not use your personal information for marketing communications unless you have separately and expressly asked us to keep you informed, and you may withdraw that agreement at any time.
Legal basis for processing
Under the PDPA, we rely on the following lawful bases when handling personal data:
- Contractual necessity — processing needed to carry out a service you have requested, such as a watch overhaul.
- Legitimate interests — operating the website securely and responding to enquiries sent to us.
- Legal obligation — keeping records we are required to retain under Thai accounting and business law.
- Consent — where you have given explicit agreement, such as subscribing to occasional updates.
Sharing personal data
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — third parties who help us operate the website or process email (such as hosting providers), bound by data processing agreements.
- Parts suppliers — only when sourcing a specific component for a restoration and only the minimum information required (a description of the watch and part needed, not personal contact details).
- Legal requirement — where disclosure is required by Thai law, a court order, or a regulatory authority.
Any third party we engage is required to handle personal data with the same care we apply ourselves and may not use it for any other purpose.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed:
- Enquiries that do not result in a service booking are held for up to twelve months, then deleted.
- Service records — including watch details and correspondence — are kept for seven years from the date the work was completed, in line with Thai accounting requirements.
- Website server logs are retained for up to ninety days for security purposes.
You may ask us to delete your information at any time, subject to any legal obligation we have to retain it.
Cookies
Our Cookie Policy gives full details of every cookie we use, its purpose, and its lifespan. You can read it at cookie-policy.html. You can also adjust your preferences at any time through the cookie settings notice on our home page.
Your rights
Under the PDPA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Erasure — request deletion of data we no longer need to hold
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing in certain circumstances
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — where processing rests on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your request within five working days and respond in full within thirty days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to raise a concern with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC).
Security
We take reasonable organisational and technical steps to protect personal data from accidental loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. Access to client records is limited to members of our workshop team who need it to carry out their work.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. If you have concerns about a particular communication, you are welcome to speak with us by telephone.
Minors
Our website is not directed at children under the age of eighteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted prominently. Continued use of our website after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
