Had an Omega Seamaster serviced here — the movement had not been opened in about fifteen years. The condition note at drop-off was thorough and they explained exactly what they were going to do. Collected it three weeks later running well within tolerance. The paperwork is genuinely useful to have.

I brought my grandmother's watch in for restoration — a 1960s piece that had not run for years. The written assessment before work began was exactly what I needed; it gave me options without pressure. The case was refinished conservatively, which is what I wanted. Took a bit longer than estimated but they communicated about it. Very satisfied with the outcome.

Collector overhaul for a Patek Philippe pocket watch my father brought from India in the 1980s. The bound report they produced is a proper document — not a printed invoice but something that describes the movement in detail before and after. The photographs from the overhaul are also there. This is how it should be done.

Sent my Rolex down from Chiang Mai for its standard service. Organised the drop-off by phone and arranged collection on a later trip to Bangkok. The communication throughout was straightforward and they did not try to upsell anything I did not ask for. Watch is running +3 seconds per day, which is an improvement.

I had a vintage IWC that I have been trying to get properly serviced for a few years — most places in Singapore either turn it away or quote a number that includes polishing I specifically do not want. Chronara understood immediately. Left it with them on a Monday, collected three weeks later. Exactly the result I was after.

I run a small collection and have now brought four pieces to Chronara across two years. The collector overhaul for my Jaeger perpetual calendar took about two months — they were upfront that it was a complex job. The final report and photographs are stored with the watch. Consistent, unhurried work each time.

Three projects in detail

Challenge

1958 Omega Constellation stopped running

A client inherited an Omega Constellation from her father. It had not run for at least twelve years and showed significant dial fading. She wanted the movement working but was concerned about preserving the original dial.

Work Carried Out

Full movement service with ultrasonic cleaning. The dial was left untouched — we discussed this specifically and agreed the fading was part of the watch's character. A worn mainspring was replaced with a period-appropriate substitute. Case buffed only on the back.

Result

Movement running within +8 seconds per day, appropriate for the calibre's age. Dial preserved intact. Client received a written condition note and photographs. Duration: four weeks from drop-off to collection.

"I was nervous about anyone opening it. They were very clear about what they would and would not do. The watch looks exactly as it should."

— Supawan R., Bangkok

Challenge

Collector overhaul for a Vacheron Constantin with split-seconds chronograph

A collector brought in a 1940s Vacheron Constantin with a rattrapante complication. The watch had been serviced in the 1990s with no documentation. He needed a full overhaul and a provenance record for insurance purposes.

Work Carried Out

Full dismantling of the movement and chronograph mechanism. Each component photographed before cleaning. Parts assessed and several worn cam followers replaced. Conservative polish to the movement bridges only. Timing tested across six positions.

Result

Movement running within specification for the complication. Bound 18-page condition report produced with 34 photographs. Duration: eleven weeks. Insurance documentation requirement met. Client has since brought a second piece.

"The report they produced is the kind of documentation that normally only comes from brand service centres. Bangkok-based collectors should know this option exists."

— K. Prasitchai, Bangkok collector

Challenge

Family pocket watch with broken cannon pinion

A Thai family brought in a pocket watch from the 1920s with a broken cannon pinion. The part was not commercially available. The movement had sentimental significance as a gift from a great-grandfather.

Work Carried Out

The cannon pinion was sourced from a period movements donor piece — a process that took three weeks of searching. Full service of the host movement. Cannon pinion fitted and tested. Photographs taken throughout to document the sourcing and fitting process.

Result

Pocket watch running within +15 seconds per day — good for the calibre's age and now in regular use. Family received the photographic documentation. Total duration: six weeks. Original character of the movement fully preserved.

"We had been told for years it could not be fixed. They sourced the part and showed us exactly how they did it. We are very grateful."

— Thawatchai family, Samut Prakan
