Terms & Conditions
These terms set out the basis on which we accept watches for servicing, how we communicate during work, and what you can expect when you collect your timepiece.
Last updated: 1 May 2025 · Effective: 1 May 2025
About these terms
These terms apply when you use our website at chronara.biz and when you engage Chronara to carry out work on a watch. "Chronara", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the workshop at 142 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand. "You" refers to the person bringing or sending a watch for service and the owner of the website session.
By leaving a watch with us or using our website, you indicate that you have read and accepted these terms. If anything is unclear, please ask before dropping off a piece.
Accepting work
Every job begins with an intake conversation — in person, by telephone, or by email. We will tell you which of our three services fits your watch, what the work involves, and the price. Work begins only once you have agreed to proceed.
For Vintage Restoration & Refinishing and Collector's Overhaul & Documentation, we carry out a written assessment before work commences. You will receive this assessment and may choose to proceed, modify the scope, or collect the watch without charge at that stage.
By agreeing to proceed you confirm that you are the watch's owner, or that you have the owner's permission to authorise the work described.
Estimates and prices
Prices shown on our website represent the standard charge for each service. Watches that present unusual complexity — additional complications, non-standard movements, or unexpected internal damage — may carry a supplementary charge. We will communicate any adjustment before undertaking the work.
All prices are in Thai Baht (฿) and include applicable VAT where this applies to our operations. We reserve the right to update our pricing schedule; the price agreed at intake applies to your job regardless of subsequent changes.
Turnaround times
Quoted turnaround periods are working estimates based on current workshop volume. They are not fixed commitments. Watches requiring unusual parts, additional specialist attention, or affected by circumstances outside our control may take longer.
We will update you if we anticipate a significant delay. You are welcome to contact us for a progress note at any time.
- Mechanical Servicing & Cleaning: typically two to three weeks
- Vintage Restoration & Refinishing: varies by scope; discussed at assessment
- Collector's Overhaul & Documentation: varies by complexity; discussed at intake
Parts and materials
Where possible, we service watches using the original manufacturer's components or period-appropriate equivalents sourced from reputable suppliers. For vintage pieces where original parts are no longer available, we will discuss alternatives with you before proceeding.
We do not use parts or lubricants that we would not be confident standing behind. Any replaced component is documented in the service record and, for Collector's Overhaul work, in the bound condition report.
Collection and uncollected watches
We will contact you when your watch is ready. We ask that you collect within thirty days of our notification. If a watch remains with us beyond sixty days after we have notified you of completion, we reserve the right to charge a modest storage fee, details of which will be communicated at that time.
If a watch remains uncollected beyond six months despite repeated contact, we may seek guidance from the appropriate Thai authority on the handling of unclaimed property. We will always make reasonable and documented efforts to reach you first.
Payment
Payment is due on collection of the watch. We accept cash in Thai Baht and bank transfer to our designated account, details of which will be provided on our invoice. We do not release a completed watch until payment has been received and cleared.
For Collector's Overhaul projects above a certain value, we may request a deposit at the point of acceptance. This will be discussed and agreed before work begins.
Care and liability
We take considerable care with every watch that comes to our bench. Each piece is handled with the attention it deserves from intake through to collection.
Our liability for any loss or damage to a watch in our care is limited to the reasonable cost of restoring it to the condition in which it arrived, up to a maximum of the agreed service fee unless we have separately agreed a higher valuation in writing at intake.
If you are bringing a watch of significant value, we encourage you to discuss this with us at intake so we can record its condition and agree any specific handling requirements.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults that were present when the watch arrived and that could not have been caused by the service performed. We will note such faults in the condition record.
Our liability does not extend to consequential or indirect losses arising from delayed completion of work.
Website use
The content on our website is provided for information about our services. We make reasonable efforts to keep it accurate but cannot warrant that every detail is current at any given moment. Prices and service descriptions are confirmed at intake, not by the website alone.
You may not copy, reproduce, or republish content from our website for commercial purposes without our written agreement.
Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the content or practices of sites we do not control.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Thailand. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by discussion will be referred to the courts of Bangkok, Thailand, which shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time you leave a watch with us or agree to a service is the version that governs that engagement. Changes to website terms take effect from the date of publication on this page.
